Man in critical condition after car and pedestrians crash on Huntingdon Road

A man has been left in a critical condition after a crash in Cambridge[1] on Thursday (January 4). The crash on Huntingdon[2] Road near the junction with Storey's Way involved a black Volkswagen Up and two pedestrians.

Emergency services attended the scene. The road was closed, with police officers diverting traffic.

One of the pedestrians, a man in his 40s, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, in Cambridge, with serious injuries. He remains there in a critical condition. The second pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, suffered minor injuries and received treatment at the same hospital.

The driver, a 62-year-old woman from Cambridge, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving. She has been released on bail until April 4.

Witnesses at the scene reported two dogs had escaped and were later returned to their owners following the collision. A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said they did not have any information about the dogs.

A Cambridgeshire[3] Police spokesperson said: "Anyone who witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage, is urged to contact police via Cambridgeshire Constabulary's website using reference CC-04012024-0100. Anyone without internet access should call 101 and ask to speak to a member of the Road Policing Unit."
