Person cut free from vehicle by firefighters after crash on M20 near West Malling – live updates

Drivers faced long delays on the M20[1] this morning (January 14) following a crash. The collision happened on the London-bound carriageway between Junction 4 for West Malling and Leybourne, and Junction 3 for the M26 at around 7.15am.

All traffic was stopped and one person had to be cut free from a vehicle by firefighters and taken to a waiting ambulance. Traffic was subsequently released at around 8.45am but National Highways said delays of 60 minutes remained.

Those delays cleared shortly after 9.30am but two lanes (of four) were still closed. They were initially shut while vehicle recovery was underway, but the closure then remained while emergency barrier repairs were carried out.

National Highways confirmed all lanes had reopened shortly after 12pm. Kent Police have been contacted for more information.
