A1 Colsterworth crash involving lorry and car closes road – as it happened

Traffic was queuing on Friday (Januaery 5) night after a crash involving a lorry and a car closed a busy Lincolnshire road. The A1 was closed southbound between Woolsthorpe and Colsterworth following a two-vehicle collision.

The extent of any injuries is not yet clear, though eyewitnesses reported seeing the air ambulance in attendance. The road was closed by Lincolnshire Police at around 3.30pm today (Friday, January 5), and was fully reopened shortly before 8pm.

A spokesperson for the force asked motorists to avoid the area while emergency services dealt with the incident. According to the traffic monitoring service Inrix, traffic between Grantham and Stamford was affected.

Google Maps' traffic tracker reports that motorists were moving 'very slowly' along the otherwise busy stretch of road. Drivers heading northbound appeared to be unaffected.
