Pedestrian dies after being hit by truck on M61 motorway

Police confirm that a man in his 40s died at the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was hit by a truck on the M61's northbound carriageway.

Officers were called out at about 10pm last night (December 12th) a person was involved in a collision with a DAF truck.

The incident happened close to the Rivington Services, near Bolton.

The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, died at the scene.

Lancashire police say: " Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.

"We are appealing to anyone who saw the collision itself or a man on the hard shoulder at around that time to get in touch. We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have any dashcam footage.
