Live M1 traffic live as lorry fire causes gridlock near Meadowhall

A lorry fire is causing disruption on the M1 this morning - just outside one of the busiest shopping centres in Yorkshire.[1]

One lane of the M1 is currently shut following the blaze on the southbound carriage way at Junction 34 to the A631 Tinsley Viaduct at Meadowhall.[2]

Details are only just breaking through but our traffic reporting system Inrix states that it is lane one of three that is closed.

It comes as hundreds of shoppers head to Meadowhall for some last-minute Christmas gifts.

Our travel partner, Inrix, reported: "One lane closed due to Lorry fire on M1 Southbound at J34 A631 Tinsley Viaduct (Meadowhall). Lane one (of three) is closed."
