CHERRIES’ first team head coach Andoni Iraola believes the good form enjoyed by all of the club’s teams is “a good sign” in the medium and long term.

An upturn in form for Iraola’s charges has lifted them clear of the drop zone, whilst Alan Connell’s development squad recently enjoyed a 12-game unbeaten run.

James Lowy’s under-18s are going strong as well, recently achieving an upset by defeating category one academy West Brom in the FA Youth Cup, but the club’s most in-form side is the women’s team, who sit atop of their division with an 100 per cent record.

Steve Cuss’s side will make history this afternoon when they host second-tier Charlton Athletic in the third round of the FA Cup (1pm).

It is the first time they have reached the stage[1], with the reward a home tie at Vitality Stadium against the highest-ranked team in the competition.

Asked about the feel-good factor at the club at the moment, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “I think it's very good.

“Women's team are doing amazing, they are on a cup run.

“Now let's see what happens on Sunday.

“Also, the second team (development squad) is doing very well, having very good results.

“We (the first team) are now improving.

“Probably we were the weak part and luckily we are improving now!

“I think it's good sign for the club, medium, long term.

“I think everyone is trying to push from their side and I hope they (the women’s team) have a good game also Sunday.”
