Ashby A42 live updates as car transporter lorry bursts into flames causing traffic chaos

Traffic is trapped

A42 Southbound remains closed and there are severe delays, with stationary traffic.

There continues to be heavy congestion to Junction 13 (Ashby de la Zouch / Coalville) for southbound traffic. On the northbound side of the M42, traffic is queueuing back to Junction 10 (Tamworth).

The road has been closed since 3pm today. There is also trapped traffic within the closure which has yet to be released.

The northbound side has also been blocked, with traffic only just being released within the last half an hour.
