A5 reopens after lorry incident causes day-long closure near Oswestry

The incident took place yesterday morning, Monday, December 4, at around 11am, and since then the road has re-opened.

Emergency services were called to the scene where they found the lorry on its side.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said in a statement yesterday: "Nobody has been injured and no arrests have been made.”

National Highways, West Midlands division, has confirmed that the road was closed in both directions while a diversion route was in place.

Traffic was building up and congestion was formed while the motorists sought an alternative route.

Clear up and recovery works went on well into the evening while the A5 remained closed.

The recovery was described as "complex”.

The A5 re-opened early this morning, Tuesday, December 5.
