Two men taken to hospital after two-car rush-hour crash on A46

Two men were taken to hospital after a two-car rush-hour crash on the A46 in Warwickshire[1] this morning. They were taken to Warwick Hospital with minor injuries after the car they were travelling in collided with a second car on the southbound carriageway close to the Hill Wootton Road junction near Leek Wooton.

No one in the second was injured, CoventryLive understands. Two lanes of the A46 were closed temporarily while emergency services dealt with the incident, which happened shortly after 7.30am. West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it sent one ambulance to the scene.

"We were called to reports of a two-car road traffic collision on the southbound A46, near to the junction with Hill Wootton Road, at 7.32am," a spokesperson said. "On arrival we discovered two male patients, both from the same car.

"They were treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Warwick[3] Hospital." A Warwickshire Police[4] statement, released at 9.20am, had said: "Two lanes of the A46 Southbound between Kenilworth[5] and Leek Wootton are currently closed due to an ongoing road traffic incident.

"Thank you for your patience, and we will notify when the road becomes clear." All lanes of the A46 reopened shortly after 9am according to live traffic information website Inrix.
