The storm has brought more than 80mph wind to the south coast which has caused traffic chaos.

The city has also experienced bouts of heavy rain and flooding that are also affecting services.

The train operator is warning commuters to check their train is running as flooding is also affecting train and bus services.

Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, the train operator said: “A precarious tree is affecting the railway between Fareham and Swanwick.

“Trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised because of this problem.”

Bus services have also fallen victim to the impact of the storm.

Bluestar has said that some of its bus routes are not running or have been significantly impacted by the storm.

Writing on X, the operator said: “Disruption on the 4 because a road is blocked.

“Unfortunately the 7:10 service from Romsey[1] to Southampton is currently not running due to flooding and the bus stuck on the way to the start point.

“We are working to free the bus and get things moving.”
