Police forced to remove trespasser from Winsover Road Level …

A trespasser who refused to leave the railway tracks brought transport in Spalding to a halt last night.

Police were called to the Winsover Road Level Crossing at 6.15pm after a member of the public refused to move when the barriers needed to close for an approaching train.

Officers were forced to remove the person from the tracks.

This incident resulted in a build-up of traffic around the town centre – including Pinchbeck Road – along with holding up trains.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a trespasser at Winsover Road Level Crossing at 18:15 yesterday evening (Tuesday). A member of the public, who was stood on the railway line, refused to move when level crossing barriers needed to close for a passing train.

“The British Transport Police and Lincolnshire Police were made aware, and the approaching train was temporarily held.

“The trespasser was removed by police, and trains were able to run again shortly after.”
