Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash on the M5 near Birmingham.[1] Emergency services descended on the motorway's northbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 4a in Catshill, Bromsgrove[2] shortly after 8pm last night, November 27.

A van driver, aged 48-years-old, was found by paramedics with serious drivers and was tragically confirmed dead at the scene. West Mercia Police[3] has now urged any motorists who saw the two-vehicle collision to get in touch.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers in north Worcestershire[4] are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the M5 northbound between junction 4A and 4. The two-vehicle collision happened yesterday evening around 8.30pm (Monday 27 November) involving a lorry and a van.

"Despite best efforts of emergency services, a 48-year-old man died at the scene. Next of kin have been informed.

"Officers carrying out enquiries into the collision are appealing for witnesses, including any motorists on the road around the time of the collision who may have dashcam footage."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service[6] added: "Upon arrival we found a man who was the driver of the van. He was assessed and was in a critical condition.

"He received advanced life support from ambulance staff at the scene. Unfortunately, it became clear that nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
