No trains between major Surrey stations as SWR warns of disruption

Engineering works on Sunday (November 26) mean there will be no trains between Guildford[1] and Woking[2], while journeys to London will face significant disruption. Rail replacement buses will be put on in place of services and will serve journeys towards East Surrey and Hampshire, South Western Rail (SWR) has confirmed.

The operator announced: “Some lines in the Guildford area will be closed all day due to maintenance work.” It added Great Western Railway services will also be impacted by this work and urged passengers to check journey planners and GWR announcements before they travel.

A network map shared by SWR[3] shows trains will be able to run to and from Guildford in the direction of Godalming[4], Haslemere[5] and the south coast. The company added that revised services will be in place along with replacement buses that will connect Guildford to Woking, Clandon, and Aldershot.

Passengers travelling to London from Guildford or south of the town on the Portsmouth to Waterloo mainline will be forced to catch a replacement bus between Guildford and Woking before continuing with their journeys, or vice versa if travelling from London. They were also warned that bulky luggage, bikes, and buggies cannot be carried on the replacement buses. Engineering work will also take place elsewhere on the SWR network across the weekend.
