Road users have been warned to allow extra time for their journeys as four of the six lanes on the busy motorway remain closed.

Extensive repair work is now being done to the central reservation between J10 and J11 after a low-loader truck carrying a dustbin vehicle crashed into it at around 4.30pm yesterday.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported from the incident, and no other vehicles were involved in the serious collision.

Orla Dimond of National Highways[2] said: “For the safety of those both working to repair the central barrier as well as those travelling past the scene, it has been necessary to close lanes on both carriageways.

“Significant resources have been at the scene since the collision last night to get the motorway open and traffic flowing this morning, but due to the reduced capacity between J10 and J11, please allow extra time to complete your journey if you do have to travel on this section of the M40[3].”
