M25 to shut this evening for emergency works near junction 28 with …

A section of the M25 in Essex will be shut for emergency works this evening in a last minute announcement by National Highways. The sliproad onto anti-clockwise carriageway of the motorway will be shut at junction 28 near Brentwood this evening (November 20).

The closure is part of the work ongoing at the junction in a £170million improvement scheme set to be completed in 2025[1] to help it accommodate growing numbers of vehicles and traffic levels.

National Highways has said some lanes of the M25 anti-clockwise will also be closed to allow the work to be carried out. A spokesman said: "Drivers should plan ahead and leave extra time during their journey as an emergency closure is taking place tonight on the M25 at junction 28.

"We will be closing the M25 junction 28, M25 entry slip road (towards the M25 anti-clockwise) to allow us to carry out emergency white lining works. In order for us to do this work safely, we will also require lane closures on the M25 anti-clockwise carriageway, with lanes remaining open to traffic."

The M25 junction 28, M25 entry slip road (towards the M25 anti-clockwise) will be fully closed at 10pm 20 November 2023 to 5am 21 November 2023. For drivers wanting to join the M25 anti-clockwise, there will be a diversion in place via M25 junction 29 where you can continue your journey."
