A crash near Beacon Hill Country Park has closed a busy crossroads. The collision, at about 11.45am today, involved a lorry and a car and happened at the junction of Charley Road and Nanpantan Road.

The car came off the road and went into a hedge, according to Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. The driver had to be helped out of the vehicle by firefighters and was taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

Leicestershire Police[1] are warning motorists to find alternate routes.
