Live M40 traffic updates after jack-knifed lorry causes commuter chaos

Two lanes are closed in both directions on the M40[1] as emergency barrier repairs are underway following an incident on the road yesterday. A lorry jack-knifed and went through the central reservation Southbound at around 5pm on November 8.

The affected stretch of the M40 is from Junction 11 (Banbury)[2] to Junction 10 (Brackley / Cherwell Valley Services). Two lanes are closed in both directions on this stretch and the Thames Valley Police Road Policing Unit[3] are at the scene.

The Southbound carriageway was closed following the incident but reopened at 6.50am on November 9. The Northbound carriageway had one lane operating.

The incident was first reported by Inrix, the traffic data management company[5], at 4.43pm on November 8. At 9.02am on November 9, a spokesperson for the company said:
