Inquest into death of ‘beloved’ chef killed alongside two young …

An inquest has opened into the death of a "beloved" dad who was killed alongside his two young children in a horror crash. Walsall chef Alomgir Hussain died when his car collided with a lorry on the A5 in Leicestershire.

Mr Hussain, who was said to have worked at Everest Noodle House in Bradford Street, Walsall[1] town centre, was pronounced dead at the scene in Burbage, near Hinckley, at around 4.30pm on Friday, September 8. His nine-year-old son, Zakir, was also declared dead by paramedics.

The 36-year-old's daughter Maira, aged four, was pronounced dead at hospital, shortly after the crash, LeicestershireLive[2] reports. Mr Hussain's wife was also a passenger in the car - she survived but was left in a critical condition, having suffered life-threatening injuries. The driver of the HGV was treated at the scene. He was given self-care advice before being discharged by medics.

The short hearing, held at Leicester Town Hall on Wednesday, November 1, only focused on Mr Hussain, who was driving the car. A cause of death was not given and as the collision is still being investigated, coroner Professor Catherine Mason adjourned proceedings until a later date.

In the wake of the crash, a fundraiser[4] was set up to raise money for the Sadaqah Jariyah charity in their memory. The initiative, which aims to build water pumps and wells around the world, raised almost £22,000.

Flowers were also left outside Mr Hussain's place of work[5] and hundreds left prayers for the family online. John Loka, manager of Sophia Bar and Grill, described Mr Hussain as a "very good" man and said he was "broken" when he heard the news.

The Palfrey Junior and Infant schools in Walsall also paid tribute to his "kind" and "caring" children[6], who were pupils there. Heartbroken staff said Zakir always had a "smile on his face", adding he had "plenty of friends" and "approached everything with positivity". Maira was described as "bright and bubbly" with a "passion for learning and boundless enthusiasm".
