Cheltenham High Street closed after vehicle hits railway bridge

Cheltenham High Street has been closed after a vehicle hit the railway bridge. The incident[1] has closed the A4019 near its junction at Swindon Street after the collision early today (Saturday, November 11).

The road has been closed between Poole Way and White Hart Street awaiting an inspection of the bridge by Network Rail. The road[2] is closed in both directions.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire County Council said: “The A4019 High St, Cheltenham[3], near its junction Swindon Street has been closed due to a vehicle striking the railway bridge. The police have requested the road closure and Network Rail have been informed so that an inspection of the bridge can be carried out.”

People should avoid the area and find an alternative route.
