A42 live updates as road closed after serious collision

A section of the A42 is closed this morning following a collision. The dual carriageway is closed in the southbound direction^[1] between J12 Measham and J11 Appleby Magna, close to the Derbyshire border.

All emergency services, police, fire and the ambulance service, are at the scene of the incident which has been described as a "serious collision". National Highways is asking motorists to plan ahead^[2] and allow extra journey time if travelling this morning.

The incident is causing traffic issues in the area. Traffic monitoring site Waze is reporting delays of up to 40 minutes.
