A British cyclist has been seriously injured after being hit by a lorry in Majorca.
The 45-year-old fell more than 30ft down an embankment at the side of the road after being run over. Emergency responders reported he had suffered “very serious” head, chest and stomach injuries when they attended him at the scene before rushing him to hospital.
The incident happened around 11.15am yesterday near Caimiri, a small inland town in Majorca at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains which is famous for its olives. It was not immediately clear this morning what his condition was.
No-one at Son Espases Hospital in the Majorcan capital could be reached for comment. The Civil Guard are investigating. There have been no reports so far of any arrests.

The roads on the island are packed during parts of the year with amateur cycling groups who test themselves on the famous Tramuntana mountains along the west side of the island as well as flats elsewhere.
The best European cycling teams also pick Majorca because of its mild winters and sunny skies. In March 2016 a Scots tourist died after being knocked off his bike by a lorry on the island. Graeme McGilvray, 49, who came from Helensburgh on the north side of the Firth of Clyde and worked with Scottish Power, left behind a wife and two children. He died on a busy road between Alcudia and Port Alcudia.
