Train delays after lorry hits bridge near Chestfield and Swalecliffe …

Commuters face delays tonight after a lorry struck a railway bridge.

The line between Faversham[1] and Margate[2] is blocked following the incident near Chestfield[3] and Swalecliffe station.

Train operator Southeastern posted on X, formerly Twitter, about the incident shortly before 5pm.

It said: “A lorry has hit a bridge at Chestfield and Swalecliffe and the line between Faversham and Margate is blocked until response staff can check the bridge for damage.

“Response staff are expected to arrive in the next 20 minutes.”
