Repair works taking place on Bradley Road bridge after car crash …

The incident occurred on the Bradley Road bridge[1], near Island Green, on Thursday afternoon.

A car hit the wall on the bridge at the side of the road - causing the road to be closed until late into the evening. Train services between Wrexham Central and Bidston were also disrupted - with a railway line running under the bridge.

North Wales Police said no one suffered any injuries in the crash, and that Network Rail engineers were on site to inspect the structural integrity of the bridge following the incident.

A Network Rail spokesperson said on Friday morning: “After a car struck a parapet at Bradley Road bridge, the line between Wrexham Central and Bidston stations was closed for three-and-a-half hours while our engineers carried out a safety inspection.

“The damaged wall has been fenced off and the footpath will remain closed until repairs are carried out.

"The engineers concluded the extent of the repair required was to the parapet and we reopened the line at normal speed after the safety inspection."
