Motorcyclist rushed to hospital with serious injuries after crash on A3

A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital after a crash with two cars that left them with serious injuries. Emergency services rushed to[1] the scene at around 11.20am this morning, to reports of a crash on the A3 northbound.

Police and paramedics arrived and found the aftermath of a collision between two cars and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The A3 was closed northbound at the Ripley slip road but was re-opened at around 3:30pm.

A motorcyclist was also injured elsewhere on today on the A320, after a crash[2] with a bin lorry.

It comes as drivers in Surrey have been warned of overnight road closures on the A3 for five nights this week with diversion routes in place that could more than double journey times. This is ahead of a full weekend closure in the same area which has now been rescheduled for the weekend of October 13 to 16.

People planning to travel southbound on the A3 towards Guildford[3] on affected nights have been advised by National Highways to follow a diversion via the M25[4] and Leatherhead[5]. This could add up to 25 minutes and 15 miles to journeys, depending on the length of A3 closed.

The overnight closures of the A3 southbound are to allow for works, including in preparation for the installation of the Wisley Bridge. Lane closures on the northbound carriageway will also be in place on Saturday night (September 30). Read the full story about how the closures will affect you here.[6]
