Man dies suddenly after falling ill in Leicester street

A man died after falling unwell in a Leicester street. Multiple police and ambulance crews were called to the scene in Painter Street after initial reports of a medical emergency were made.

East Midlands Ambulance Service[1] were first called to the scene on Wednesday afternoon, with officers from Leicestershire Police called to assist. Officers arrived at around 2.30pm following reports of a man being taken unwell.

The man reportedly fell ill inside a vehicle. In a statement, police confirmed the man, who has not been identified, was later pronounced dead.

A spokesman for Leicestershire Police[3] said: “Police received a call at 2.24pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 September) from the East Midlands Ambulance Service regarding a man who had taken ill in a vehicle in Painter Street, Leicester. Officers attended the scene and the man was later pronounced dead.”

The death is currently being treated as unexplained. Investigations are ongoing according to officers.
