Boy, five, hit by car in Shelton

A five-year-old boy is reported to have been hit by a car in Shelton this afternoon. The incident happened on Elgin Street near to Aynsley Road at around 3.45pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene, with police saying they were called out to reports of a five-year-old boy being involved in a collision with a car. They said he is not believed to have sustained any serious injuries in the incident and did not require any hospital treatment.

An ambulance was also called out but was stood down. A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said officers were attending the home address of the child to take a statement about the incident.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 3.35pm this afternoon (Wednesday 27 September) to reports of a collision involving a car and a five-year-old boy on Elgin Street, Shelton.

"The boy is believed to have minor injuries which do not require hospital treatment. Officers are attending his home address to take a statement about the incident."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed they had been called out and had an ambulance en route to the incident when they were stood down.

The spokesperson said: "We were called out and one ambulance was en route but then we were stood down. While en route we got a call to say we were not required."
