Serious lorry fire in Dover closed A2 – recap

The A2 Jubilee Way was closed due to a lorry fire. and fuel spillage The fire happened at around 5pm yesterday (August 4) and the road remained closed for two days.

The closure affected traffic between the A258 Swingate and the A20 Dover. Police and Highways workers were at the scene.

There were delays all around Dover with heavy Port traffic and Operation Brock having knock on affects. Drivers had been warned to expect delays.

National Highways website stated at the time of the incident: "Traffic is being diverted via local roads by emergency services at scene. Delays are likely on approach to the closure and diversion routes. "

Those heading to the Port of Dover were asked to use the M20 and A20.

It added: "If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey. "

Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident. A spokesperson said at the time: "A fire involving an HGV on the Jubilee Way in Dover is now out. One lane is now open.

"Firefighters gave first aid to one person who had small cut on hand, the cause is not yet known. Kent Police also attended to assist with lane closures and duty of care was left with the Highways Agency."
