Motorcyclist seriously injured after Peak District crash shut road for …

A motorbike rider is in hospital after a crash on a busy road into the Peak District[1]. Officers were called to a report of a collision involving a motorbike and a car on the A53 Leek Road just before 3.30pm on Thursday, August 3.

The rider of the motorbike was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The force has confirmed he remains in hospital for treatment.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident. The collision caused the A53 between Macclesfield Old Road and the A54 Macclesfield Main Road to be closed[2] while investigation work was carried out.

It was reopened just after 7.30pm. Officers from Buxton Police SNT had reported that traffic in the area was at a standstill at around 5pm because of the incident[3].

A spokesperson for Derbyshire police said: "We were called to a report of a collision involving a motorbike and a car on the A53 Leek Road just before 3.30pm on Thursday, August 3. Anyone who saw what happened or has CCTV or dashcam footage, can contact us, quoting reference number 23*481026."
