M1 reopens today after crash near Luton Airport shut motorway …

The M1 motorway was closed following a crash in Bedfordshire today (Monday, August 7). The southbound carriageway was shut to traffic between junction 11 (Luton) and junction 10 (Luton Airport).

The crash was first reported shortly after 11am. All lanes had reopened by 12.30pm.

A National Highways spokesperson said: "All lanes are now open on the M1 southbound between J11 Luton and J10 Luton Airport following a multi vehicle collision. Please allow extra time if travelling in the area as delays of 20 mins remain. Thank you for your patience."

Inrix, the traffic data company, said: "Queueing traffic due to earlier accident, a lorry and a car involved on M1 Southbound from J11 A505 Dunstable Road (Dunstable South / Luton) to J10 A1081 (Luton Airport Spur Road). All lanes have been re-opened. Lanes one and two (of four) were closed. The road was blocked for just over 30 minutes at 11:00."
