Granby Street in Leicester city centre[1] was closed this afternoon. The road, which runs from London Road towards the city centre, was closed at its junctions with Rutland Street and Chatham Street at around 4pm this afternoon, Leicestershire Police[2] announced.

The force issued a traffic update at that time. It said: “Due to an on going incident, there is a closure in place on Granby Street, Leicester, at the junction with Rutland Street and Chatham Street.

"Please seek alternative routes, updates to follow.”

Members of Leicestershire Police Force attended the scene in response to a man on the roof of one of the buildings, a police spokesperson told LeicestershireLive.

The police issued a second announcement around an hour later to say the road was open again and thanked drivers for their patience.
