Inquest opened into death of cyclist killed in lorry crash

Retired labourer Bryan French, 81, from Milcombe, was cycling on the A361 near Bloxham on August 7 when he was struck by a lorry.

Papers prepared for the opening of Mr French’s inquest on Wednesday (August 23) said that he died at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford[1], six days after the crash on August 13.

His death was a result of injuries suffered in the crash. His cause of death had been given as traumatic brain injury.

A full inquest is expected to take place on February 15 next year.

Inquests are typically held following an unnatural or unexpected death. Its purpose is to establish the identity of the person who died and the circumstances of their death.
