Great Western Railway announce next week’s rail replacement …

There will be no direct trains between London Paddington and Cheltenham Spa from Monday, August 21 to Thursday, August 24.

Customers will be able to travel between Swindon and Gloucester/Cheltenham Spa via Bristol Parkway.

Within this four day period no trains will be able to stop at the stations in Kemble, Stroud or Stonehouse.

Buses will be replacing the trains to and from all the stations affected.

GWR’s station manager for South Cotswolds Ben Scott said: “This work is part of an ongoing programme that will enable us to maintain services for customers travelling to or from Gloucestershire.

“We’ll provide alternative road transport and work with other train companies to ensure customers can still complete their journeys during this time.”

Network Rail infrastructure manager Jonathan Skirton said: “Our teams need to maintain vegetation and drainage near to the railway to keep the tracks safe.

“We’re sorry for the disruption to trains but this work will ensure journeys are more reliable for years to come.”
