Fire engine damaged after crash with car on its way to incident

A fire engine on its way to an emergency call was involved in a crash with a car in Market Harborough[1]. The incident happened on Northampton Road at around 7pm on Monday evening.

According to a spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service[2], the appliance was responding to a call with blue lights. The statement says as two oncoming drivers stopped for the vehicle, another one pulled out.

The spokesperson told Harborough FM[3]: “The fire engine was responding to a call and driving with the blue lights and two tones. Two oncoming drivers stopped to give way before one pulled out in front of the engine.”

Other emergency services were then called to the incident, with the road being closed for short while. According to reports, the engine suffered some damage and was escorted back to the station for repairs.
