Creamfields 2023 road closures and restrictions as traffic delays begin

Creamfields returns to the Cheshire countryside this weekend - and queues are already forming on the A56 and M56 as excited festival goers flock to the site.

Many will have travelled by train in the past but after the rail union announced strike action for August 26 - which will affect anyone attending on the Saturday - it's likely more people will be opting to use the car.

Around the site, traffic restrictions and road closures will be in place. It's set to be incredibly busy on the roads in the area, with Warrington Borough Council warning drivers of delays, reports the Liverpool Echo.[1][2]

The morning (August 24), Creamfields traffic is queuing on the A56 Chester[4] Road in both directions between A558 Daresbury Expressway and Holly Hedge Lane, Higher Walton. Congestion is also starting to develop on the M56 J11 westbound slip road.

The festival starts on Thursday, August 24 and finishes on Sunday, August 27.

Restrictions

20mph speed limit:

  • A56 Chester Road from the borough boundary with Halton to its junctions with Old Chester Road/Runcorn Road.

30mph speed limit:

  • Daresbury Lane from its junction with Warrington Road to the borough boundary with Halton.

Hatton Lane, Underbridge Lane, Warrington Road

  • Daresbury Lane from its junction with Warrington Road to the Borough Boundary with Halton.
  • Hobb Lane from its junction with the A56 Chester Road to the Borough Boundary with Halton.
  • Holly Hedge Lane from its junction with the A56 Chester Road to its junction with Runcorn Road.
  • Old Chester Road from its northerly junction with the A56 Chester Road to its junction with Walton Lea Road.
  • Park Lane from its junction with the A56 Chester Road to its junction with Warrington Road.

No U-Turns

  • Chester Road in either direction on Chester Road between the borough boundary with Halton to its junctions with Old Chester Road/Runcorn Road.
