Biker suffers ‘potentially serious injuries’ after crash as buses diverted

A biker suffered "potentially serious injuries" following a collision with a car. The incident happened at the junction of Forth Drive and Chester Road in Fordbridge, Solihull[1], this afternoon, August 8.

Police and medics arrived at the scene shortly after 2pm. Pictures taken by BirminghamLive showed uniformed officers blocking the road near The Centurion pub.

The stretch was briefly closed in both directions causing the number 94 and 95 bus services to divert. But the motorcyclist was expected to recover from his injuries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service[3] statement read: "We were called at 2.09pm to a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorbike at the junction of Forth Drive and Chester Road in Fordbridge. One ambulance attended the scene.

"Upon arrival we found a man who was the motorcyclist. He was assessed and had sustained potentially serious injuries that were not life-threatening.

"He received treatment at the scene and was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital[4] for further assessment. No further patients required treatment.”

West Midlands Roads tweeted: "Chester Road [at the] junction with Forth Drive [is] closed [due to a] collision. Expect delays." Inrix traffic management system added: "Chester Road in both directions closed. Slow traffic due to accident between Forth Drive and Clopton Crescent."
