Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash between a HGV and a car.
The collision occurred on the A69[1] westbound at the junction with the B6531 near Hexham[2], Northumberland[3]. Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene just after 10.30am on Friday morning.
Two patients were taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI)[4] in Newcastle[5] for further treatment.
A lane of the A69 westbound has been closed while the emergency services deal with the incident and motorists have been urged to avoid the area due to delays.
A North East Ambulance Service (NEAS)[7] spokesperson said: "We received a call at 10.34am this morning (Friday 14 July) to reports of a road traffic incident on the B6531 junction with the A69 near Hexham.
"We dispatched two ambulance crews and a clinical team leader, and requested support from our colleagues at the fire service and the police. Two patients were taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) for further treatment."
A spokesperson for Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service[8] said: "There was a road traffic collision between a HGV and a single car on the A69 at the junction of the B6531. Northumbria Police and NEAS are in attendance at the incident.
"The lane is closed going westbound and Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service would like to ask that people stay clear of the area due to delays."
Northumbria Police[9] confirmed that they received a report of a collision on the A69 westbound at the junction with the B6531 near Hexham shortly after 10.35am on Friday and emergency services were at the scene.
