The road closures and works taking place across Beds

There are planned roadworks and road closures happening across Bedfordshire this week beginning Monday, July 3. Roadworks are essential for ensuring that are roads remain in working order, but it can still be irritating when they do take place.

Whether you're heading out on the school run or on your daily commute to the office, nothing makes for a worse start to the day than ending up in a queue because of roadworks or a road closure. Although sometimes emergency roadworks and road closures have to happen, avoiding the planned ones can help you to have a smoother journey.

  • A421 Marston Moretaine - Closed eastbound overnight from Beancroft Road to A6 The Branston Way until July 29
  • A1 Sandy - Southbound - A1 Southbound closed due to roadworks during the night from A603 (Sandy Roundabout, Sandy) to Biggleswade (Biggleswade) until July 8
  • A1 Biggleswade - Both Directions - One lane closed due to long-term roadworks on A1 in both directions between A603 (Sandy Roundabout) and A6001 Hill Lane until July 25
  • A6 Bedford Road, Clophill - Temporary traffic lights due to roadworks on A6 Bedford Road at A507 (Clophill roundabout). Until December 31
  • B530 Bedford Road, Kempston Hardwick - Bedford Road in both directions closed due to roadworks from Meadow Road to Manor Road. Until July 14
  • B660 Kimbolton Road, Bedford - Temporary traffic lights due to roadworks on B660 Kimbolton Road at Mowsbury Park. Until July 4
  • Dallow Road, Luton - Temporary traffic lights due to telecoms work on Dallow Road in both directions at Dale Road. Until July 5
  • High Street, Arlesey - Temporary traffic lights due to roadworks on High Street at Goodwin Drive. Until December 29
  • Heath Road, Leighton Buzzard - Temporary traffic lights due to roadworks on Heath Road near Greenhill. Until July 31
  • The Bottoms, Harlington - The Bottoms in both directions closed due to long-term roadworks from Harlington to Harlington. Until May 5, 2024
  • St Thomas' Road, Luton - Temporary traffic lights due to telecoms work on St Thomas's Road at Lothair Road. Until October 11
