The 79 trains cancelled by Greater Anglia this week due to industrial …

Rail users have been advised to check before they travel between July 17 and July 22 due to six days of planned industrial action. The ASLEF trade union has called action short of a strike, meaning there will be some cancellations on most Greater Anglia routes.

The RMT trade union has also called for 24-hour strikes on July 20 and July 22. A further strike remains scheduled for July 29. Services will operate on most routes between 7am and 11pm on these days, but some alterations and cancellations will also occur.

There is also the potential for some short-notice alterations throughout the period from 17 to 22 July, although everything possible will be done to try and prevent these happening. More details are provided of both the cancellations due to the action short of a strike, along with a summary of the service alterations on the strike days of 20 and 22 July, are provided at the end of this release.

Jamie Burles, Greater Anglia managing director, said: "While the majority of services will be running as normal during the period affected by industrial action, there will be some alterations and cancellations across our network. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by these service alterations and advise customers to plan ahead and check before they travel."

A revised timetable will operate between 7am and 11pm on July 20 and 22. The frequency of each route is:

  • Braintree to London Liverpool Street: every hour
  • Cambridge/Cambridge North to London Liverpool Street: every 30 minutes
  • Clacton-on-Sea to London Liverpool Street: every hour, with trains calling additionally at Hythe
  • Colchester Town to London Liverpool Street: every hour
  • Ipswich to London Liverpool Street: every hour
  • Norwich to London Liverpool Street: every hour
  • Southend Victoria to London Liverpool Street: every 20 minutes
  • Stansted Airport to London Liverpool Street: every 30 minutes
  • Ipswich to Cambridge: every hour
  • Ipswich to Lowestoft: every two hours, with trains calling additionally at Westerfield
  • Ipswich to Peterborough: every two hours
  • Manningtree to Harwich Town: every hour (July 20 only)
  • Marks Tey to Sudbury: every hour
  • Norwich to Great Yarmouth: every hour
  • Norwich to Lowestoft: every hour
  • Norwich to Sheringham: every hour
  • Norwich to Cambridge/Stansted Airport: every hour – passengers may need to change at Cambridge and Bishop’s Stortford for Stansted Airport
