Teen girl fighting for life and two arrested in horror Audi S3 crash

Two people have been arrested and two teenagers have been hospitalised following a crash on Wombwell Lane in Barnsley.

At around 11.40pm last night, the emergency services were called to Wombwell Lane amid reports of a crash involving a blue Audi S3. South Yorkshire Police[1] believe the car was travelling away from Stairfoot roundabout.

It travelled onto the opposite side of the carriageway and crashed into a brick wall. The driver was a 29-year-old man who has now been arrested on suspicion of burglary, driving while disqualified and dangerous driving.

His passengers, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old girl, were both taken to hospital. The 16-year-old girl is currently in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, the 17-year-old girl has been released from hospital with minor wounds. She has been arrested on suspicion of burglary.

South Yorkshire Police said: "At 11:40pm last night (22 July) emergency services attended Wombwell Lane following reports of a collision involving a blue Audi S3.

"It is believed that the car was travelling away from Stairfoot roundabout before travelling onto the opposite side of the carriageway and colliding with a brick wall. The driver, a 29-year-old man suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of burglary, driving while disqualified and dangerous driving.

"His passengers, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old girl were taken to hospital. The 16-year-old remains in critical condition.

"The 17-year-old girl has since been released from hospital with minor wounds. She has been arrested on suspicion of burglary. She, and the 29-year-old man remain in police custody."
