Motorcyclist who died in crash is fourth child mother has lost

A motorcyclist who died in a horror crash in Scotland last weekend has been named as a 30-year-old from near Derbyshire[1]. Mitchell Peter Lloyd was pronounced dead at the scene of the three-vehicle crash on the A93 near Glenshee, in the Cairngorms, last Saturday, July 22.

Police released his name to the public and said that he was from Derbyshire. However, a fundraiser by Mitchell's family states that he was from Stapenhill in Burton[2].

Mitchell was driving a Yamaha motorbike at the time of the collision, which also involved a Peugeot 2008 and a Ford Ranger. His family has asked for privacy, reports Aberdeen Live[3].

A 62-year-old male who was driving the Peugeot and the 27-year-old female driver of the Ford Ranger did not require treatment. Police are appealing for information on the circumstances surrounding the crash, which happened at around 1.25pm.

A fundraiser launched for his heartbroken family has already raised more than £3,500[5]. A statement on the GoFundMe page said: “Christine and Kevin lost their son Mitchell in a tragic RTC in Scotland on Saturday 22nd July.

“I am raising funds to help the family towards funeral costs and to bring Mitchell home (Stapenhill, Burton-on-Trent) where he belongs. Mitchell's family have dealt with tragedy after tragedy.

"To lose one child/sibling is something no family should have to go through but, over a short time, Christine has lost four of her children. Losing a loved one is heartbreaking and as we are all aware funeral costs are extremely expensive and is an added worry.”

Sergeant Brian McEwen said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Lloyd’s family and friends at this difficult time for them. Our enquiries into the crash are ongoing and we are asking for anyone who can assist who has not already spoken to officers to come forward.”
