M25 and A3 closures drivers will want to avoid this week

Drivers in Surrey will need to prepare alternative routes due to overnight road closures this week. Maintenance work and repairs are set to be carried out on the M25[1] and the A3.

Major routes[2] affected include the M25 Staines’[3] junction 12, which leads onto the M3 up to junction 2. This means drivers will need to join the M3 further down at the Bagshot Interchange.

Work along the A3, near Milford and Hogsback, could cause disruption for commuters in the morning near Guildford[4]. Diversions are usually put into place while roads are shut for maintenance, which can add extra time onto journeys[5].

Most of the closures scheduled for this week will be in place from between either 9pm to 5am, or 10pm to 6am the following morning. Those travelling in the morning should be aware that work can sometimes overrun.

Closures on the M25 and the A3:

  • M25 clockwise and anticlockwise near the Staines junction (12) to the M3, including traffic moving north and southbound to the M3’s Junction 2. Carriageway, lane, link roads, entry and exit slip road closure for maintenance works from 10pm to 5am each night from Tuesday (July 25) to Friday (July 28).
  • M25 anti-clockwise near Caterham’s junction 7 to junction 6. Closures on the exit slip road and lane closures for electrical works from 10pm on Tuesday (July 25) until 5am tomorrow morning. Diversion via junction 4.

  • A3 northbound, near Shackleford, towards Compton. Slip road and lane closures for drainage work between 9pm and 6am on Wednesday (July 26) and Thursday (July 27).

  • A3 northbound, near the Hogs Back. Slip road and lane closures for drainage work between 9pm on Wednesday (July 26) to 6am the following morning.

  • A3 northbound, towards Milford. The slip road will be closed, and there will be lane closures, for drainage work from 9pm on Friday, (July 28) to 6am the following morning.
