All the roadworks and road closures to be aware of in Essex this week

There will be delays on some major roads in Essex this week, due to road closures and roadworks. The county's roads have become busier again as we enter the summer season, so it's advisable to plan ahead to make sure you don't get stuck in traffic caused by roadworks.

The A12 continues to cause delays for motorists as the project rebuilding the Margaretting Bypass carries on. National Highways has said that further work at the junction with Marks Tey also will have some roadworks.

This week we've got some roadworks and road closures on the A12 up and down the county, as well as on smaller local roads, so it's even more important to plan ahead.

One major closure on the A12 will see J25 at Marks Tey closed during the weekend due to resurfacing work[1].

  • A123 Fanshawe Avenue in both directions at Monteagle Avenue will have temporary lights due to water main work until July 21.
  • The A12 in both directions between J13 (Ingatestone) and J16 (Galleywood) will have a speed restriction of 40mph with one lane closed due to resurfacing work. There will be nighttime closures and a contraflow used between 5am and 9pm Monday to Sunday on August 31.
  • A12 in both directions between J26 (Eight Ash Green/Tollgate Interchange) and A12 J25 (Marks Tey) will have a contraflow system and speed restrictions due to resurfacing work.
  • A129 Southend Road at Bridge Road has temporary lights until November 25 due to gas main work.
  • A1240 Heathway near A1306 New Road has temporary lights until August 31 due to roadworks.
  • A1306 London Road near New Tank Hill Road has temporary lights until September 1 due to roadworks.
  • A1184 Cambridge Road near Old Road has temporary lights due to long-term roadworks until December 31
  • B1035 Thorpe Road is closed in both directions from Crown Lane to Swan Road due to resurfacing work.
  • A120 Eastbound from A131 (Notley Green roundabout) to B1018 (Galley's Corner) closed between 9.30pm and 5am Monday to Sunday due to overnight roadworks
