Vehicles stopped for carrying ‘dangerous loads’ on motorways

Two vehicles were stopped by traffic officers for attempting to deliver flags and poles strapped to trailers, police have said.

A transit van and trailer was stopped at junction 29 on the M6 for carrying 12.5m flag poles on the trailer and resting them on the roof of the van, according to officers.

The driver was reported.

Another van and trailer was stopped on the M55 at Kirkham with the pipes resting between the back of the truck and strapped to the trailer, police added.

The driver was reported and the vehicle was issued an immediate prohibition.
