A MAN in his 80s was seriously injured after an incident involving a lorry this morning (Friday).

Emergency services were called out just before 10.15am. Part of Alcester Road, and Arden Street to Grove Road, remained closed to traffic until later this afternoon.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing staff from nearby Rother House Medical Centre giving medical treatment to the man by the side of the lorry.

Police were also seen spraying paint around the wheels of the lorry as they investigated the incident.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to Alcester Road in Stratford before 10.15am to reports of an RTC (road traffic collision). An ambulance, two paramedic officers and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered a pedestrian and a lorry had been involved in a collision.

“The pedestrian, a man, had suffered serious injuries and was treated by ambulance staff at the scene before being airlifted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.

“The driver of the lorry was unharmed.”
