A MAN who died after he was struck by a lorry on a busy Scots motorway has been named by cops.

Emergency services[1] raced to the scene on the M74 in Glasgow at around 11.35pm on Saturday night.

Police[2] also scrambled to the crash, which happened near to the on-ramp from Polmadie at Junction 1A, after receiving reports of the incident.

Ben Miller, 39, was found injured after being struck[3] by the red Scania HGV.

Mercy crews rushed to his aid but tragically he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A photo of Ben, who lived in Glasgow[4], has been released by officers today as a probe into his death continues.

Ben's grief-stricken family have said they have been left "deeply shocked" by the incident.

Sharing a statement through Police Scotland, they said: “We are deeply shocked at Ben's sudden passing.

“Ben leaves behind a close family and many loving friends, and we are very grateful for all the messages of love and support that we have received.

“We ask that our wishes for privacy at this difficult time are respected.”

Cops have confirmed that enquiries into Ben's death are ongoing.

They are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

They have urged anyone who may have seen something, or anyone who may know something, to speak with officers.

Sergeant John Houston, Glasgow Road Policing, said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Miller’s family and friends at this time.

“We are continuing with our enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

“I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area and may have seen what happened who hasn’t yet spoken to police to contact 101, quoting reference number 5187 of 3 June, 2023.”
