M1 lorry fire causes four miles of traffic near Northampton – updates

There are long delays on the M1 near Northampton ^[1] this afternoon after a lorry fire. According to travel provider Inrix, two lanes are closed as of 12pm and there is queueing congestion on the motorway.

It happened on the M1 Northbound carriageway at J15A A43 (Towcester / Northampton Services). There are queues to J15 (Northampton) around four miles long and travel time is around 15 minutes.

Lane one and two (of four) are currently closed while recovery work takes place. Google Maps shows traffic build-up south of Northampton.
