Road closed after car flips on notorious roundabout in rush hour traffic (Image: Shanks Choudhury) Update: The road has now reopened. There are currently delays caused by a road closure after a vehicle flipped onto its side this morning.

The crash in Thornton was first reported on traffic monitoring website, INRIX, at 6.40am this morning (April 26). The incident took place on the Norcross Roundabout and one side of the road on A585 Amounderness Way has been blocked. Police are at the scene now and say the incident is a 'damage only RTC' so luckily, no one has been injured.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We are currently at the scene of a road closure on the Norcross Roundabout, from the Fleetwood road junction going towards Carleton. "The road is closed due to a road traffic collision and may be closed for some time. "Please find alternative routes and avoid the area if possible.

We will update you once the road has reopened." Speaking on the crash this morning, one concerned resident said: "The number of collisions at the Norcross roundabout is alarming. Constantly see cars jumping the lights.

Only a matter of time before a fatality."

Norcross Roundabout has previously been ranked as the second most dangerous roundabout in Lancashire.
