Car and lorry in M25 accident amid Easter travel disruption

Easter travel disruption hit Surrey's roads on Good Friday (April 7) with incidents reported on both the M23 and M25. Lanes were closed as a result, adding to congestion and impacting traffic flow. An accident involving a car and a lorry was reported by traffic service Inrix, said to have happened on the M25 anticlockwise near Chertsey.

Inrix said: "Queueing traffic and one lane closed due to accident, a car and a lorry involved on M25 anticlockwise at J11 A320 St Peters Way (Chertsey). Lane one (of three) is closed." Congestion was also reported further along the M25 near Staines due to a broken-down car.

Two lanes were said to have been closed due to this incident. Inrix said: "Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to broken down car on M25 anticlockwise before J12 M3 J2. Congestion to J13 (Staines).

Lanes four and five (of five) are closed." One lane was also closed on the M23 southbound on the approach to Gatwick Airport. Inrix reported: "Queueing traffic and one lane closed due to broken down car on M23 Southbound from J8 M25 J7 to J9 (Gatwick Airport).

Lane one (of four) is closed."
