Freeport of Riga Board elects new chairman
The Freeport of Riga Board has nominated Sandis Steins as its new Chairman, with Liene Priedite-Kancevica elected as the Vice-Chairman of the Board. According to the port, Sandis Steins brings extensive experience in managing large enterprises and state capital companies. Currently serving on the Board of SIA 'Kool Latvia', he has held positions in SIA 'Rimi Latvija', SIA 'Kursi', 'Statoil', and IJSC 'Balta'.
Since 2024, Steins has been a member of the Freeport of Riga Board, representing the Minister of Economics. Liene Priedite-Kancevica boasts over 28 years in public administration. Serving as Director of the Legal Department at the Ministry of Transport since 2006, she has chaired the Supervisory Boards of SJC 'Latvijas Pasts' and SJC 'Latvijas Valsts radio un televizijas centrs'.
Priedite-Kancevica has been a member of the Freeport of Riga Board since 2023, representing the Minister of Transport. "The sustainability of the results can be provided by becoming more efficient, promoting rapid technological growth, and boosting the reputation of the Port of Riga.
"As Chairman of the Freeport of Riga Board, my task will be to strengthen the port's core commercial activities and develop a business model that is in line with the changing market, which will enhance the port's operational capacity, the value of Freeport of Riga and its revenue flow."
Last month, the Port of Riga received its largest containership in its history, the MSC Maritina V, which boasts a maximum capacity of 4,533 TEU[2].
