Green light to convert city care home garage into office

Plans to convert a Gloucester[1] care home’s garage into an office have been given the go-ahead. Alex Green has been granted permission by Gloucester City Council[2] to convert the detached double garage at number 7 Denmark Road which is a four-storey end-terrace home.

The proposal is to turn the existing garage in the rear garden into an office which is intended for a maximum of three members of staff who are already employed at the site.

The structure of the garage will be altered with a new roof, windows, doors, and external timber cladding. The existing hardstanding at the rear of the garden is also proposed to be removed and replaced with a new and enlarged permeable vehicular turning and parking area for four cars.

Access to the proposed parking area would be created by removing the timber fence at the southeast boundary next to Hillfield Court Road, where existing dropped kerbs are located.

The planning committee considered the proposals at their meeting on May 2. And officers recommended approving the scheme.

Chairman Gordon Taylor (C, Abbeymead) put forward a motion to approve the scheme subject to conditions and this was seconded by vice chairman Steve Morgan[4] (C, Grange). The committee voted to approve the proposals.
